Methodology<\/h3>\n

Live Online Training. All sessions will be recorded and posted for posterior viewing for a period of 4 months.<\/p>\n

Zoom meetings will be recorded. Recordings will be posted on our Virtual Campus after a few days.<\/p>\n

Participants will have access to the materials and the recordings until March 30th, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Training is held in English. Spanish speakers will have simultaneous translation into Spanish.<\/p>\n

Training Description<\/h2>\n

Despite having survived, traumatized individuals are left with a confusing sense of what happened to them.\u00a0 Traumatic reminders keep the trauma \u2018alive\u2019 by re-activating the stress response system and survival defenses.\u00a0 Unaware that these reactions are feeling memories held in the body, they assume that they are still in danger or somehow at fault.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Without a way to understand their sensory and body memories, survivors of trauma come to either distrust themselves or distrust others. \u00a0 They still feel unsafe.\u00a0 They experience the same emotions of shame, fear, anger and hopelessness over and over again.\u00a0 Telling the story of what they remember sometimes brings relief but does not resolve the \u2018living legacy\u2019 of traumatic reactions that continue to torment the client day after day.<\/p>\n

Agenda<\/h2>\n

In these 2 days, with 3hr presentations, participants will learn how to assess and make sense of trauma-based symptoms, such as dysregulated autonomic arousal, overwhelming emotions, and sensations, intrusive images, numbing and disconnection.\u00a0 They will discover how to use psychoeducation to help clients manage these overwhelming reactions and change their relationship to the traumatic symptoms.\u00a0 In addition, participants will be taught how to integrate neurobiologically-informed treatment techniques into psychotherapy that help resolve the traumatic past and finally put it to rest. <\/p>\n
